3 lessons we've learnt from London Fashion Week so far

Publicado: 2016-09-19

From hair styling tricks to the coolest way to wear your trench coat, London Fashion Week is offering up a host of inspiring style lessons. Here's what we've taken away so far...

1. 'Mango' is the new stylish colour to know

Sounds delicious right? Mango was the moniker Donatella Versace gave to the pop of colour she added to her Versus Versace collection (which also involved a lot of black, navy and khaki). The head-to-toe look, comprised of mango sunglasses, a mango belt crop top, a mango parka and mango leggings had a cool Solero feel to it- if that feels too much, it will be the perfect scarf/ bag/ top accent colour to pick out.

2. Clubbing could be making a comeback

There has been much talk of clubbing's demise lately what with the closure of Fabric and hundreds of other clubs in the UK. But Molly Goddard took inspiration from Nick Waplington, the photographer who documented New York's underground clubbing scene, emblazoning his prints on t-shirts. Instead of instantly disappearing from the catwalk, models gathered on stage to wave their arms in the air, trance-like. A good start to Saturday night at fashion week. Topshop also referenced clubbing in their show notes, writing of the 80s zebra print-filled collection: "Think clubbing not reserved for Saturday night"

3. Stacked platforms are how we'll be dressing up our jeans

Last season high heels were ditched for slip-on backless loafers, but at House of Holland the VIP section saw a row of chunky platform heels. Alexa Chung wore her platforms with socks, meanwhile Pixie Geldof opted for a chunky silver pair with a slim ankle strap.
