Flash Your Style

Publicado: 2017-01-09

Winter seems to be playing with our heart strings. Sunny afternoons slip into cold evenings and freezing nights but it’s hard to notice the cold when you’re too busy celebrating the festive season. Weddings, balls, birthdays and anniversaries aplenty mean that we have a hard time picking the best of the best from the plethora. Among fierce competition, here’s who made the cut for us this week.

Mawra Hocane

Mawra truly looks marvelous in over the knee boots and a personalized Burberry cape (remember the year these were all the rage?), giving us major winter style goals. We love the laid back feel of her outfit; its oozes style without trying too hard and makes her look sufficiently warm in what is sure to be freezing New York. Style tip ladies: dress for the weather. No one’s buying the fact that you’re not feeling cold in your velvet dress with no stockings.

Khadija Shah

When fashion’s current doyenne dresses you take note. Shah, who dresses half the brides getting married in the country, undoubtedly knows a thing or two about styling an outfit for a wedding. Here she wears an intricately worked shirt and lehenga in classic black and red combination, accessorized with a jhumar, matching earrings and drop pearl necklace. We love how the look is regal but approachable simultaneously.

Deepika Padukone

Across the border another favourite style star takes on Eastern wear and kills it. Padukone looks demure in a sequin embellished lehenga choli in pale pink and cream. She lets the outfit do the talking by keeping the rest of her styling and accessories subtle. Relying only on traditional jhumkas she sports chiseled cheekbones that beam with highlighter and a formal updo that’s made to look less severe by keeping it messy.

Alyzeh Gabol and Shehrbano

Ellahi Sheikh

Ms. Gabol, model of the moment and upcoming designer Sheikh show us how to do casual chic for the afternoon. Bano (Sheikh’s moniker) keeps it classic in a plain white shirt knotted at the front, distressed denim and black pumps while Gabol channels sporty luxe (trending all through 2017 as well, by the way) in a stripped bomber and sneakers.

Momina Sibtain

Editor Sibtain cuts a mean figure in a bralet inspired choli and lehenga with a belted dupatta (we hate these with a passion but Momz, as we like to call her, makes it work). Her beauty look is on point; bronzed cheeks that dispel any thoughts of winter, a ballerina bun and a three layered necklace that provides a refreshing break from the collar hugging necklaces that characterize traditional jewellery.
